Pocket PE™ equips schools and districts with a low-cost, high-impact mobile app curriculum tool that strengthens PE instruction across varying district resource models. The platform promotes student access and opportunity to quality PE regardless of staffing model, equipment resources, or facility constraints.
Showcasing our journey, from grant-funded innovation to peer-reviewed research, with transparent evaluation and published results.
District leaders need more than engaging technology, they need evidence-based tools they can trust. Pocket PE lessons and supports are intentionally developed through research, standards alignment, and educator collaboration, helping districts adopt with greater confidence.
Early findings have shown strong usability, acceptability, and satisfaction, along with promising gains in teacher confidence, instructional quality, student moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, and student enjoyment during PE.
We are currently evaluating Pocket PE in a large-scale randomized controlled trial with 72 classroom teachers in Oregon and California. The trial established feasibility and impact when classroom teachers used Pocket PE in real classroom settings.
Pocket PE was developed through federal research funding and rigorous, iterative design. Led by Dr. Jeanette Ricci, the work has involved multidisciplinary collaborators, national experts, and educator input throughout development.

For Districts with Elementary PE Specialists
Pocket PE strengthens the role of credentialed PE specialists by introducing a collaborative framework where both the specialist and classroom teachers utilize the app. Empower your PE specialists to act as district movement champions to boost PE minutes- engaging building staff, decreasing curriculum planning time, and extending their expert-informed physical literacy advocacy beyond the gym walls.
For Districts without Elementary PE Specialists
While we explicitly advocate for every school building to retain a dedicated PE specialist, we recognize that district resources vary. Pocket PE serves as a highly effective, low-boarding tool when a specialist is unavailable, allowing principals to equip classroom teachers with a low-burden digital app to confidently deliver validated, standards-aligned PE lessons in any school environment.
We collaborate with districts through each phase of adoption, from purchasing and IT coordination to onboarding and ongoing support.
School or district administrators schedule a call to discuss size, staffing, goals, and budget.
A quote is provided within 48 hours of the sales call. To move forward, the school or district submits a Purchase Order.
Once the quote is sent, we begin the district approval process. After the purchase order is submitted, we coordinate with district staff on permissions, agreements, and IT implementation.
A District Administrator will create and assign purchased licenses through the Pocket PE admin portal. Educators receive instructions to download the app and complete registration.
Educators join a live onboarding and Q&A webinar, explore tutorial resources, and begin using the platform with ongoing support available.
